Welsh Poultry Centre

The team behind The Welsh Poultry Centre are Steve Merritt and Juliet Fay.  We have over 20 years experience of keeping poultry in various different climates from Pacific Islands to wet West Wales.  

Llwyncrychyddod Farm sits above the small village of Llanpumsaint in north Carmarthenshire. Formerly part of a larger dairy farm, now it is a 20 acre, southwest facing smallholding.  We live here with our three children, cattle, sheep, layer birds, pure breed poultry and a small free-range table bird unit, as well as our on farm abbatoir  and cutting facility.  

Having spent 12 years producing and direct selling organically certified, vegetables, pork, eggs and table birds (first in Wiltshire, then in Wales) we are now developing this small acreage into a sustainable, abundant farm that can supply good, nutritious food and energy for the long term.  You can follow Steve's musing on this project on his blog.

As well as running the centre Steve works as a freelance organic advisor accredited by the Institute of Organic Training and Advice.  Juliet accredited by The Institute of Copywriting also offers Marketing, Copywriting and Consultancy services  to rural businesses that need help promoting their goods and services.   Find out more about these services here.
